How long does it take for a store to respond to you after you filled out a job application?

I just filled out job applications for numerous stores and I am in desperate need of a job. Does anyone know around how long it takes for a company to let you know if you have the job or not? If it helps I applied at Petco, Stop and Shop, Linens and Things, Party City, Walbaums, and Famous Footwear.
